Inside the mind behind the collections. The second issue of Treasure Magazine in Montenegro, invites you into the creative world of Andrea Iyamah unfolding in three chapters, through reflections on design, travel, craftsmanship, and the ideas that shape every collection.

Chapter 01 -
A LETTER TO NORA
There are two kinds of travellers. The ones who collect passport stamps and the ones who actually collect perspectives. My darling, I hope you become the 2nd.
Today I wandered through a little town in Montenegro. I arrived by boat. With nowhere to be except exactly where I was. I wandered through a market where the fruit looked sweeter than the ones I know. I searched for a hat with a woman whose language I couldn't speak, accepted an ice cream I didn't need, and stood beneath churches that have quietly watched centuries pass.
Nothing extraordinary happened, and somehow everything did. Because travel has a way of reminding you that the world is so much bigger than the life you've always known. You begin to realise that there are thousands of ways to build a home, thousands of ways to raise a family, thousands of ways to gather around the table, thousands of ways to celebrate, to grieve, to create, to dream, and none of them are wrong. Travel gently loosens the grip of certainty. It replaces assumptions with questions, judgement with understanding. It teaches you that people don't have to look like you, sound like you or live like you for you to recognise yourself in them.
I hope you never rush through a place just to say you've been there. I hope you wander. I hope you buy the fruit from the family that's been selling it for generations. I hope you stop to admire the flowers growing through the old stones. I hope you choose the longer walk, even when there's a shorter one. I hope you sit in cafes a little longer than necessary. I hope you smile at people whose words you really do not understand. Because one day you'll discover that kindness has always spoken every single language. And perhaps the greatest gift travel gives us isn't that it changes where we've been. It's that it quietly changes who we become. It teaches you humility, it expands your imagination, it reminds us that our story is only one among millions, and somehow that doesn't make life smaller. It makes it infinitely more beautiful.
So wherever life carries you, I want you to stay curious, stay open, stay wonderfully fascinated by people. Collect stories instead of souvenirs, collect perspectives instead of passport stamps.
The world has always been generous to those who arrive with open eyes. And if one day you find yourself wandering through a little town you've never heard of before, I hope you think of me. Not because I taught you where to go, but because I taught you how to look.
With love from mom,
my dear daughter,
from a little town
in Montenegro.
