For Tenicka Boyd, a beautiful life isn't something that happens by chance.

It's built through intention, slow mornings, meaningful rituals, curiosity, and the freedom to live life on your own terms. In the latest edition of Treasure Sounds, Tenicka shares the reflections, routines, and soundtrack accompanying her through this season of life.

Your name and the work you do?

I’m Tenicka. I spent most of my career as a political strategist, organizer and advisor on domestic policy issues. I became a lifestyle content creator a few short years ago.

What do you spend most Sundays doing?

I spend my Sunday mornings slow with homemade chai, writing, and a 2-3 mile walk through Central Park with my husband.

Morning run, gym session, or yoga?

I love a morning walk. I usually also go to the gym to strength train. And I’m definitely a pilates class or yoga on youtube kind of girl.

What’s something in your life you’re most proud of?

I’m most proud of the life I’ve created for myself on my own terms. I get to go and do and be whatever I want. I learned to exist boldly and lean in to all the things that set my soul on fire. As a woman, having agency has been one of the most liberating things.

What would you tell your 18-year-old self?

It’ll all work out. You’ll get to live in a brownstone in Manhattan. You’ll get to fly all over the world. You’ll get to wear beautiful clothes. You’ll get the degrees. And you will be happy. Just continue to guard your future, take one step at a time, and make impeccable decisions.

Dream holiday destination?

You know I’ve been blessed to go on 50 dream vacations in my life. But top of my bucket list right now is Vietnam, Sri Lanka, and Rwanda. I want to be somewhere lush with greenery and peaceful.

How do you find calm amidst chaos?

I turn off all my gadgets and I go roam museums. Art always grounds me, gets my creative juices flowing, and reminds me of the beauty that came before me.

If you could be anything else in life, what would it be?

I have a pretty beautiful life. I think in my past life I was a history professor. But if I could trade lives with anyone it would be my 19 year old daughter. She lives a pretty fab life.

Your ideal Friday night ritual?

On Friday nights I always make a girl dinner which is just a pescatarian charcuterie and drink a glass of non-alcoholic wine from French bloom and catch up on Bridgerton or the real housewives. And I’ll usually do that wearing a sheet mask in some silk pajamas.

If you had 10 minutes to pack for your dream destination, where are you going and what are you packing?

I’d go to the Mozambique archipelago either in the north or Bazaruto.
I’m packing statement tops
, linen wide leg pants, my Andrea Iyamah swimsuits, a crochet cover up, a white dress and a straw bag.
