Black Owned Businesses: The List

It’s February and also a month to celebrate love and our history! As a Nigerian born brand, we want to spread the love and highlight other unique Black owned businesses during this special month that celebrates Black History.

Epara means “to cocoon oneself” in the Nigerian dialect of Ebira, this skincare line is designed for specific skincare issues for women of color. We love their sleek packaging and high quality ingredients, the ultimate self love treat.


AAKS is an accessories label founded by Akosua Afriyie-Kumi, owner and Creative Director of the brand, inspired by her home country of Ghana. The carefully handcrafted basket style handbags boast a colour palette and quirky detailing that will work for any occasion. 



Lulu Lingerie is a Nigerian based lingerie brand catering to woman with fuller bust sizes, in addition to select mens and kidswear ranges.


We are NBO, a Nairobi based sustainable jewellery designer inspired by nature and natural forms. The striking gold pieces are enhanced by the complex and lifelike structures and are sure to flatter all complexions, we particularly love the Deviendra Drops earrings shaped like orchid flowers. 


Kahmune is a shoe label focussing on nude shoes for all skin tones. Owned by Jamela Acheampong, Kahmune aims to close the gap in the market for ‘nude’ coloured footwear. Make sure to check out their recently launched nude tote bags to keep your whole outfit in balance. 


Studio Nom is a home decor brand based in the Netherlands, using the traditional technique of macrame to create intricate wall hangings and home decor pieces. The natural fibres and geometric shapes bring a well balanced and calming presence for all interiors.


UOMA Beauty is owned by Nigerian Born Sharon Chuter, UOMA meaning ‘beautiful’ in the Nigerian dialect of Igbo. The product range is inspired by the ethnic diversity across the African continent and is known for their highly pigmented colour palettes to compliment all skin tones and bring a pop of vibrancy to your look.  



GLEMAUD is a designer leisurewear collection of statement knitwear, designed for all, headed by Haitian-American Victor Glemaud. The pieces feature block colouring and sleek, elegant shaping.



Luxury footwear designer Titi Adesa is owned by Lagos native Titi Adesanya and was born from her love for impeccable craftmanship. Ethically & delicately hand-crafted in Milan, Titi Adesa footwear is produced in a family-owned factory utilising the finest artisans in Italy.



Switch Cosmetics offers high end makeup and beauty products, headed by Creative Director Oby Iyamah Osifo. With a flag ship store also offering in house beauty services, be sure to check out the highly pigmented lip products.



Nubian Skin is a lingerie and hosiery brand dedicated to providing nude garments for women of colour. With a wide range of products from shapewear to slips, you're sure to find something perfect for your skin tone.


Heat Free Hair was founded on the basis that it's more than just hair, hair can change your outlook on your day and how you feel about yourself. Featuring a great range of products for a multitude of hair types, you're sure to stand out wearing these.



We Dream In Colour is a designer of ethereal inspired jewellery, utilising a range of materials and techniques to create truly unique pieces. We particularly love the Brass Castara Earrings!



Orange Culture is a Nigerian based label, with an androgynous feel to the collections. Each piece has an African touch and is manufactured in Lagos using ethically sourced fabrics.



Vie Beauty are focussed on transforming your everyday rituals into luxury experiences. With their signature hydrating rose water, you'll be looking fresh and dewy all day long. 



Eu'Genia is the new natural alternative to chemical filled moisturizers. Using 100% natural raw shea butter, choose the formula that works best for your skin!



Kkerele are a Lagos based luxury leather goods designer, specialising in super chic flat shoes. With a passion for handcrafted goods, each piece is created by hand individually, on a made to order basis.



Expedition Subsahara are a Senegalese Black owned company intent on celebrating Senegalese culture and craftmanship. They offer beautiful handcrafted, authentic goods with a percentage of each sale going towards the building of a girls' school in Senegal.



LaPierre Cosmetics is an eco-friendly, vegan nail lacquer brand. With super sleek packaging and a wide variety of colours and finishes, you're going to want to buy more than one colour



Ihuoma is a luxury lingerie brand, celebrating the modern Black woman. The collections compliment and enhance darker skin tones, with a selection of beautiful fabrics sure to keep you in touch with your feminine side. 



Grain and Knot is a London based designer creating hand carved objects form sustainable and reclaimed timber. Her plethora of works range from kitchenware, home decor and interior pieces. 



Tongoro Studio is a 100% made in Africa label based in Dakar, Senegal. Using fabrics sourced on the continent and working with local craftsmen to create innovative and unique pieces. 


EDAS was founded on the idea of sustainability focussed practice, they now deliver staple accessories and jewellery to accommodate the everyday woman. 



Beyond Interior create pieces inspired by their West African heritage, and aim to create out of the ordinary and eccentric pieces to bring light to your home. Their signature pieces include candles shaped in the female form, showcasing a variety of body shapes.



Havilah is a sustainable beauty and wellness brand, specialising in 100% pure, cold pressed plant oils for healthy skin and hair. All products are cruelty free, vegan and free from chemical additives.



Estelle Colored Glass is a luxury brand hailing from Poland crafting hand blown glass in a rainbow of colours. The sleek, delicate pieces are the ultimate addition to any kitchen or home space.



Mented Cosmetics was founded by two women looking to find the perfect nude lipstick, they create the line of cosmetics to ensure all women are able to have makeup that works for their complexion and highlights their beauty.



Lait de Coco Studio is a curated line of vintage and handmade pieces, embellished with the treasures of a tropical island, aspiring to make women glow and serve the environment whilst doing so. 



Vavvoune hails form Brooklyn based designer Valerie Blaise and features a line of leather accessories. Featuring passionately made, wearable leather accessories, evoking moments of nostalgia alongside functionality.



Cold Laundry is a London based studio ran by duo Ola and Cerise. The streetwear brand was built on the ethos of not sacrificing ethics for quality contemporary clothing. Overall the brand boasts a clean and monochromatic aesthetic for a sleek, sophisticated look.
