A.I. CARE MONTH − FIGHTING MALARIA

At Andrea Iyamah, we place great value in charity and giving back to the community by supporting a cause. This year, the brand has decided to partner with the Push Out Malaria Initiative by Joyful Joy Foundation in support of the Global Roll Back Malaria Initiative.

Malaria is a serious tropical disease spread by the female anopheles mosquito. If malaria is not diagnosed and treated promptly, it can be fatal. Mosquitoes infected with malaria parasites spread it from person to person and a single mosquito bite is all it takes for a one to become infected. Malaria is found in more than 100 countries, mainly in tropical regions of the world. There are about 207 million reported cases yearly and roughly 627 000 reported deaths globally, 77% of which occur in children under five.

Symptoms include:
High temperature fevers
Sweats and chills
Headaches
Vomiting
Muscle pains
Diarrhoea

The Roll Back Malaria Partnership (RBM Partnership) is the global framework for coordinated action against malaria. It forges consensus among key actors in malaria control, harmonizes action and mobilizes resources to fight malaria in endemic countries. Between 2000 and 2012, an estimated 3.3 million lives were saved as a result of a scale-up of malaria interventions.

About US$ 5.1 billion is needed every year to fight Malaria.

Andrea Iyamah in conjunction with the Push Out Malaria initiative by Joyful Joy Foundation (JJF), supports the global Roll Back Malaria Action by donating 10% of the total sales made in October 2014 as contribution towards the bulk needed for this cause.
With love,
A.I. Team
