Spa Etiquette: Do's & Dont's

Sometimes, after a stressful work week, all you need is a spa trip to get you back on top of things. Before your next visit to your favorite spa, be sure to review our list of Spa Do's & Don'ts.

DO

Let them know you're coming and don't just show up. Make an appointment so they can be prepared for you when you get there.

DO

Arrive on time! Getting there late throws your therapist's schedule off for the rest of the day. Be considerate and arrive in plenty of time to fill out forms and other paperwork.

DO

Leave your jewelry at home. You’ll be asked to take it off before your session begins and you don’t want it to get lost.

DO

Remember to take a shower. This sounds like a no brainer but you'll be surprised how many people don't do this. Just because you're heading to the spa does not mean you should throw personal hygiene out the window. It’ll be embarrassing for both you and your therapist, so show up clean!

DON’T

Be on your phone. It’s a spa! While it’s hard to be ‘unplugged’ for even a few minutes these days, a spa is the best place to give it a try. You came to unwind and get away from the outside world so stop refreshing your Instagram timeline every few seconds and relax.

DON’T

Talk loudly with friends. Having a girls spa trip? Great! However, be cautious and aware of the fact that not everyone wants to hear all your girl talk.

DON’T

Hide how you feel. If you feel uncomfortable during a massage, make sure you speak up! Your therapist can’t tell how you’re feeling unless you let them know.

DON’T

Be rude. Therapists are not your personal servants. Be polite when speaking to them and never forget your please and thank yous.

DON’T

Come in sick. Be considerate of your therapist and other clients and don’t come in if you're feeling under the weather. Wait till you’re all better and then book an appointment!
