Fall Cleaning

It's that time of year! Football, pumpkin spice lattes and cooler weather is back! We’ve all heard of the typical “spring cleaning” routine, but major clean-ups of your space and life should be done with every season change. It’s time to transition your wardrobe, say goodbye to summer and prepare for the cooler months ahead. Below we discuss some key ways to dive right in to fall.

Wardrobe. Now that fall has arrived, it's time to begin transitioning your wardrobe. The changing season doesn’t require that you get rid of everything “summer time”. Save your favorite summer pieces and accessorize them for the fall. Think layering! With cooler temperatures in the morning and moderate temperatures during the day, try wearing a cardigan or a light jacket over your loose and airy tank tops. Trade in your strappy sandals for a cute pair of ankle boots. You can also try including a bold “fall” colored scarf with your outfit.

Beauty. With fall comes the changing of the leaves, shorter days and bolder “vampy” makeup options. Burgundy is in! Start collecting your darker eyeshadow palettes and vampy lip sticks. Several cosmetic companies have released their new fall lines. Explore some of their options and find the fall look that’s right for you. You can also play around with deeper and darker nail shades. Here is a list of fall nail color suggestions.

With cooler weather comes drier skin. Make sure you have a great moisturizer on hand to keep your skin hydrated and smooth.

Now that you’ve figured out which clothing you’re holding on to, and what beauty products you will be using more often, it’s time to clean up. Dedicate some time to completely organize your transitioned closet. Pack away all of your summer clothing and shoes for extra closet space for your new pieces. Try to stay organized while packing things away so they are easily found next spring. Donate any items that haven’t been used in a while. Dust and wipe down your surfaces. Buy some fall scented candles and indulge in the new season!
