A famous example of the fascinating architecture in this city is the La Sagrada Familia. This church has become one of the symbols of Barcelona and it isn’t even finished yet! This building attracts about 2.8 million visitors a year and is said to be the most visited monument in all of Spain. Designed by Catalan architect, Antoni Gaudi, construction of the church began in 1882 and is expected to be completed by 2026. Ticket prices begin at €15 for adults.

The Food

Of course food is an important part of any trip and it definitely applies here in Barcelona. Being so close to the Mediterranean sea, seafood plays an important role in Catalan cuisine. There is also a culture around eating in Barcelona. Lunch (the most important meal of the day in Spain and from about 2-4PM) is typically a 3-course meal, with many people leaving work to go back home to eat with their family. Be prepared to eat late as locals typically eat dinner from 9-10:30PM. For more Spanish customs click here.

Barcelona is full of tiny boutiques that are just waiting to be discovered. Here you will find a variety of stores from cheaper brands to international fashion houses like Armani. There is something for everyone and if you're not careful you'll end up getting carried away and spending all your money! Bershka is one of Spain's most popular stores where you can find relatively cheap clothing. Other stores to visit are Zara and Mango. Stores can be found in the Gothic Quarter, Passeig de Garcia and many other districts!
